Sheeps Wool insulation

We were on holiday in Wales this past week and saw about a million sheep in the fields. To finish our trip, we visited an organic sheep farm in Wiltshire.

It got us thinking of using natural wool insulation in our home. A bit of investigation and looking at a few websites has us intrigued at the possibility of using this type of eco-friendly (and efficient) insulation.

We love Wales, and the thought of having a little bit of that country in our Swedish home is very appealing. We'll look into the practicalities.

That's all well and good, but have you considered the potential for allergens. I, for one, am allergic to wool and since I expect an invitation to the Aspo summer house, this does concern me.

An excellent point- I hadn't thought of that. I'll be sure to pose that question to potential providers and report back.

The Black Mountain people replied to me: "While we too, are aware of the potential for those with wool allergies to have a reaction to our product, we have not found any immediate or ancillary problems with the use and specification of wool.

Unlike other materials, wool does not disintegrate and spread throughout the building as a fine dust. Because of this, it is much less likely to cause any reactions to people with a sensitivity to wool."
